Recent Maine OUI Law Changes
What changed, when it took effect, and who it affects.
2025
Juvenile OUI and a minimum age for juvenile crimes
Public Law 2025, chapter 431 set 11 as the youngest age for a juvenile crime. Maine’s OUI law now says a juvenile OUI counts when the law refers to criminal OUI, including for license suspensions.
2024
OUI no longer covered by overdose-call immunity
Calling for help with a suspected drug overdose no longer protects anyone from arrest or prosecution for OUI. The same applies to operating a watercraft, snowmobile or ATV under the influence.
