What a DUI Costs in Kentucky
Fees and fines set by the state. Attorney fees, insurance increases, and lost work come on top and vary by case.
First-offense fine
$200 to $500
Community labor may replace the fine.
Second-offense fine (within 10 years)
$350 to $500
Third-offense fine (within 10 years)
$500 to $1,000
DUI service fee (on every conviction)
$425
Required by KRS 189A.050 in addition to the fine. Part of it pays for court-ordered DUI education or treatment.
License reinstatement fee
$40
Paid to the Transportation Cabinet after a suspension, including when you apply for an ignition interlock license.
Ignition interlock installation and monitoring (state caps)
Up to $130 to install; up to $100 a month
Paid to the device provider, not the state. Removal, reset, and missed-appointment fees are extra.
Under-21 fine (0.02 to under 0.08)
$100 to $500
Or 20 hours of community labor.
