    1. August 1, 2025

      DUI causing serious injury becomes a Class B felony (HB 1503)

      HB 1503, signed in April 2025, amends N.D.C.C. §39-08-01.2 to raise criminal vehicular injury, a DUI that causes serious bodily injury, from a Class C to a Class B felony, allowing up to 10 years in prison instead of 5.

    2. August 1, 2025

      Treatment time can count toward a DUI sentence (HB 1313)

      HB 1313, signed March 24, 2025, amends §39-08-01 so a court can order a DUI defendant into a licensed addiction treatment program when an evaluation shows a need, with time in treatment credited against the jail sentence.
