Your license was revoked. Here's what Oklahoma gives you.
What Just Happened to Your License
When you were arrested for DUI in Oklahoma, two separate things happened to your license — and most people don't understand both until it's too late.
The criminal case — handled by the court. This is the DUI charge itself.
The administrative revocation — handled by Service Oklahoma (formerly DPS). This is automatic and happens separately from the criminal case.
If you didn't enroll in IDAP or file a district court appeal within 30 days of receiving your revocation notice, your license was automatically revoked. The revocation period for a first DUI is 180 days.
Your 180-day revocation and your interlock requirement are two separate things. They do not end at the same time. IDAP may change your terms — read Section 3 carefully.
IDAP — The Option Most People Miss
Oklahoma's Impaired Driver Accountability Program (IDAP) is a critical option that most people don't know about.
What IDAP does:
- • Reduces your 180-day revocation to 30 days
- • After 30 days, you can get a modified license with an IID installed
- • You avoid the full 180-day revocation if you comply with all requirements
IDAP requirements:
- • Install an ignition interlock device (IID) for the duration of the program
- • Pay the IDAP fee ($150)
- • Submit to any required substance abuse evaluation
You must elect to enter IDAP within 30 days of your arrest. If you missed this window, you will serve the full 180-day revocation before a modified license is available.
IDAP is the most important decision you make in the first 30 days. If you're reading this and still have time — call Service Oklahoma today.
The Modified License
Oklahoma calls its restricted license a modified license. It allows limited driving during your revocation or suspension period.
What it allows:
- • Driving to and from work
- • Driving to school
- • Driving to medical appointments
- • Driving to your DUI assessment or treatment program
What it does NOT allow:
- • Driving for recreation or personal trips
- • Driving outside your approved purposes
If you entered IDAP: You can get a modified license after your 30-day hard revocation period ends, with an IID installed.
If you did not enter IDAP: A modified license may be available after 30 days of your 180-day revocation, with court approval and IID.
How to Get an Oklahoma Modified License
Determine your path
If you entered IDAP, follow the IDAP modified license process through Service Oklahoma. If you did not enter IDAP, you need a court order for a modified license.
Install an IID
An IID is required for all modified licenses in Oklahoma. Have a Service Oklahoma-approved IID installed before applying.
Get an SR-22
Your insurance company must file an SR-22 with Service Oklahoma.
Pay fees
$300 reinstatement fee + $150 IDAP fee (if applicable).
Apply at a Service Oklahoma office
Bring your IID installation certificate, SR-22, and any court order. Service Oklahoma issues the modified license.
Cost to expect: $300 reinstatement + $150 IDAP fee + IID installation ($70–$150) + IID monthly ($60–$90/month) + SR-22 ($15–$50/month)
The IID — What You Need to Know
Oklahoma requires an IID for all DUI-related license actions. There is no path to a modified license without one.
IID periods in Oklahoma:
- • IDAP participants: IID required for the full IDAP program period (typically 18 months)
- • Non-IDAP first offense: IID required for 18 months minimum
- • Refusal cases: IID required for 18 months minimum
Your revocation ending does NOT automatically end your IID requirement. Oklahoma's 18-month IID requirement runs from reinstatement — not from your arrest date.
To remove the IID, you need confirmation from Service Oklahoma that your required period is complete. Contact your IID provider to verify your compliance status before requesting removal.

Oklahoma requires SR-22 for 3 years. Your insurance must maintain the filing.

The IID must remain for the full 18-month required period from the date of reinstatement.
Pay the $300 reinstatement fee
If not already paid.
Apply for full reinstatement
At a Service Oklahoma office.
Real Talk
Oklahoma's process is more expensive than most states — the $300 reinstatement fee plus the IDAP fee plus the IID adds up fast. But IDAP is genuinely one of the better options available if you caught it in time. 180 days of revocation down to 30 days is significant.
If you missed the 30-day IDAP window, serve your time, get the modified license as soon as you're eligible, and get through it.
